Relatives Workshops

Adoption is life-changing not only for you but also for your extended family.  As adoptive parents you will have received training and support to help you prepare for welcoming your adopted child.

Grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings and other extended family members also play an essential role in welcoming your child to their family.  We therefore offer workshops for relatives, helping them to understand the experiences that your children may have had and how best they can support your child to settle in their family.

If you are interested in finding out more about our relatives workshops please speak with your worker or contact the office.

Talks are provided for extended family members which is so helpful in helping them to understand the differences between birth children and adoptive children”.

“Talks for extended family members are so helpful to adoptive parents, as it helps with explaining things in the long run and aids a greater understanding of the process of adoption”.

“Our parents on both sides found the relatives class completely invaluable. Although they had children of their own it gave them an insight into the profound difficulties that adoptive children may have and gave them a clearer understanding of how to be the best grandparents possible for our newly adopted family.”
